Refrigerated Air Dryers

We offer several solutions for dealing with moisture, an inherent problem for air compressors. On a basic level, moisture is created in an air compressor because hot air produced from the compressor pump enters a much colder tank, which causes the hot air to reach its dew point and condense into droplets. This leaves moisture in your tank, which can be passed into the airline system and then out to your tools and equipment.

There are many ways we can help in dealing with the moisture issue. The easiest way to produce dry air is by installing a refrigerated dryer between your compressor and the equipment using the air.

The refrigerated air dryer works by cooling the air from your compressor tank to the point that all water vapor remaining can be eliminated through a water trap, leaving dry air from the refrigerated dryer to go to air piping or equipment. There is very little maintenance that needs to be done to refrigerated air dryers, making them a great choice for almost any application requiring dry air.

Air Compressors Plus offers SMC-brand refrigerated air dryers that we can size appropriately based on the CFM output of your compressor. These dryers come in various power supplies and port sizes and can be customized for any customer's personal needs. SMC offers a one-year warranty but will extend the warranty to two years as long as the customer installs a coalescing filter between the dryer and compressor.

All refrigerated air dryer manufacturers recommend having a coalescing filter, which removes oil from the air before it enters the dryer. It is also highly recommended that you have a pre-filter to keep the dryer free of as many contaminants as possible.

Filters and Regulators

Air compressors can pass on moisture and oil into the hoses, lines, and equipment you use on your system. Having the proper filtration in place can help maintain your equipment and piping and prevent unnecessary repairs.  Air Compressors Plus offers various types of filters, regulators, and desiccant systems to help you protect your equipment and the end product. Whether it's to regulate your air pressure or eliminate moisture and/or oil from your air system, we have the parts needed to protect your system and equipment.

Air Compressors Plus sells a variety of pressure gauges in both back- and bottom-mount varieties.  Contact us today if you need a new or replacement pressure gauge for your compressor.

Air-Cooled Aftercoolers

When hot, compressed air is created, it vaporizes and suspends water particles. Having an aftercooler cools the compressed air down to within 15 degrees above ambient air temperature. This substantially reduces water, and other biproduct contaminants, to the supplied air from the compressor. This results in up to 65% less moisture that the compressor creates during normal operation.

Aftercoolers can be mounted onto any compressor's belt guard, to help reduce the moisture levels to your tools and end components. This is a great way to start dealing with moisture, and a way to protect your tank, and other tools you have already invested in.

We also carry free-standing aftercoolers which can be placed on the floor or mounted nearby, and have their own fan cooling system, which does not rely upon the pump flywheel to cool down the compressed air.

Tank Drains, Silencers, and Low-Oil Controls

Air Compressors Plus carries accessories for your system that reduce noise, make maintaining your compressor easier, and also to protect your compressor. We offer silencers that can be mounted to the compressor pump, which will reduce the intake noise level you would normally hear while the compressor is running. If your compressor's environment is nearby, installing a silencer is a great way to reduce the noise level heard by everyone around.

We also sell both air actuated, and electronic tank drains. These can be installed on the compressor, and will automatically drain the water from your tank, so you don't have to get down on the ground and drain the tank manually.

Remember, it's recommended to drain the air compressor tank daily during usage. Having an automatic tank drain eliminates the need for you to do so manually and it always remembers, unlike humans, who sometimes just forget. The air actuated tank drain eliminates tank water every time the pump shuts down and bleeds off head pressure. The electronic tank drain can adjust both the duration of purge, as well as frequency, and is typically used on 10hp units and above.

Either way, an automatic tank drain works, so you don't have to.

You have invested in your compressor, and a simple way to protect that investment is with a low oil control. Lets say your shop shuts down for the night but no one shuts off the air supply or power from the compressor. Now, that connected hose or shop piping springs a leak, and no one is around.

Your compressor is going to run continually until it either is shut off, or becomes damaged to the point of seizure. A low oil control installed on your pump, will prevent the compressor from starting if there is ever a low oil situation within the pump. Whether the correct oil level is not being maintained, or there is an oil leak for some reason, this will protect your compressor from starting, and save the components from seizing. It's a low cost insurance policy for your compressor.

Noise Reduction Enclosures

If you want to keep noise to a minimum in your compressors environment, then these noise enclosures are the right solution. They offer a clean look with external PSI gauge and can be easily accessed for any maintenance needs. They are available in 2 sizes, for compressors up to 30hp, with up to 120 gallon vertical tanks. Additionally, they have an external quick connect fitting, and control boxes can be mounted externally. These enclosures have a thermostat controlled vent (2 on models for 25-30hp), and keep the temperature controlled so your compressor doesn't overheat. The fan only runs when needed, conserving energy as well.

These are only available on vertical tank compressors and are available for both piston, and rotary screw applications. Noise levels are reduced by up to 20db and at the same time, the enclosure provides a clean environment for your compressor from nearby elements such as dust and debris. These enclosures can accommodate any brand vertical tank compressor and can be easily adapted to your current compressor. Call or stop by today to get more information on these or any of our other products.
